San Antonio Municipal Court Divorce Records
Divorce records provide an accounting of a dissolved marriage, detailing custody arrangements (if children are involved) and the division of shared assets.
Local municipal courts do not handle divorce proceedings in Texas. Instead, the Texas constitution grants state district courts exclusive jurisdiction over marital dissolutions (Tex. Gov't Code § 24.601). Consequently, researchers must turn to the Bexar County Civil District Court to locate family law files.
The Bexar County District Clerk maintains case records and makes them available digitally and physically. Divorce decrees and case documents are typically available for viewing or copying at the downtown courthouse. There is a $5 search fee, $1 per page to copy, and $5 to certify the record.
General dockets may be accessed through the clerk's online portal.
