San Antonio Municipal Court Marriage Records

The application for a marriage license, declaration/registration of an informal marriage, and certificate of an informal marriage are the major documents related to marriages in San Antonio. These records are maintained, not by the local court clerk, but by the Bexar County Clerk.

The County Clerk can provide plain or certified copies of licenses issued in Bexar County, including those issued in San Antonio. Since marital records are public, anyone may request a copy. However, records related to informal marriage are not public: only the two applicants may obtain a record.

Marriage records are included in the county clerk's Official Records Search, where they can be searched and viewed online, with uncertified copies available for printing from the system. Anyone can obtain a certified copy of a marriage license for $8 per record at the county court's Southside Annex.
